Countywide PPG Network Summary

This is a brief summary from the Countywide PPG Network meeting that includes links to the items discussed and showcased at the meeting.

          GP Patient Survey

Further work will be done with the network at the meeting in September in conjunction with Healthwatch Gloucestershire. You can access your Practice’s results here. If your PPG would like some additional support around this survey then please email us.

Integrated Care System

We are working with our Communications colleagues on information for patients. We are also planning to hold a one off engagement event for PPG’s to learn more about the planned changes to the Clinical Commissioning Group. We are also happy to hold smaller group sessions too if you feel that would be helpful.

Peer leadership

An inspiring story shared by Andy Holness, Chair of Churchdown PPG and how he became a Peer Leader. If any other PPG members are interested in the programme then please see two links below with further details of the Peer Leadership Development Programme:

We talked about asking patients and carers ‘what matters to you?

NHS Digital Data collection

We welcomed Una Rice to talk through the complex subject of GP data collection. Una referred to a document that NHS Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group are working on to help explain the complexities. It is currently being reviewed by Healthwatch’s Reader Panel and then we will be happy to share the draft with a couple of PPG members for the ‘patient test’. So far we have more than two PPG members that have come forward so may draw names out of a hat.  Una shared the following web links as helpful:

General Practice data for planning and research

How NHS Digital makes decisions about data access

Since the meeting we have become aware of a letter from Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Jo Churchill, published 19th July 2021 outlining a change to this process, details of which can be found using this link

          Spotlight – Helping you

Following the distribution of this survey (which is still open for you to complete if you are able and wish to) we had a discussion about the support you and your PPG’s would benefit from.

It was felt that a ‘toolkit’ of available resources which have been developed by PPG’s and then shared to enable others to benefit.

We agreed that a small group of PPG Network members would work with the Engagement Team at the CCG to begin to put some resources together. Katherine will be in touch with those that have agreed to support this work when she returns in September.

It was also felt that the Network would benefit from being able to communicate with one another outside of the meeting, this can happen for anyone interested in this using this forum.

We have also set up an ideas board for you to add to or comment on any already there.

AOB

Personalised Care Programme – Members were asked if they would be interesting in participating in a short life working group to review documentation to support people who receive care at home, including palliative care. Colleagues at the CCG are planning a meeting in mid-late August – further information and details of how to ‘Get Involved’ will be circulated shortly.
