·   The chairman AH welcomed Pamela Dewick and Geoff Gidley (Alney PPG) to the meeting who were there observing as they are working towards a new PPG with the amalgamation of Cheltenham Road and Highnam surgeries. Also a welcome to Kara Smith (Digital Champion with the NHS) who works with KGP.

·   AH asked if there were any issues from the last minutes if not then he asked for a proposer to adopt the minutes as a true record. SB proposed and EB seconded.
·
AH has had a patient complaint passed to him through the surgery regarding the telephone system accessibility and other issues. After consultation with the Patient Advocate at the surgery, a reply has been sent to the patient. The issues have been addressed by the practice and do not warrant further discussion at this group.

AH has updated the PPG noticeboard on the 2nd floor at Aspen trying to make it more eye catching by changing some of the posters. PPG information has also been put up at Saintbridge and EB is putting the same posters at Tuffley.

·   AH updated the group on the progress made to the portable noticeboard. The first session has been held and after discussion with GK and MH the following has been noted.

     1) The afternoon sessions were not very busy so it would be better to do a morning session when more patients are attending.
     2) Patients do not come and look at the noticeboard or ask questions so we have to be more pro-active and engage patients in conversation. The following subjects can be used as a talking point:-Who we are so we can encourage people to join our group.

Other subjects could be encouraging patients to join the online service. Promote our website blog. Help patients with online access. AH is working on a list of help websites for information.

·   Website blog – KG-P updated us on the work he has been doing.  This page can be found on the left hand side of the website under the Patient Participation Group heading, clicking on this takes you to a page with lots of information on. Minutes are now published on the blog and there is a list of members of the PPG AH encouraged everybody to put together a picture and profile of members (as long as the members are happy to do this) and KG-P will add these to the blog. Our Terms of Reference have been added to the blog as well.

·   Patient Survey-74 Patients Surveys have been completed (Thanks to all members who have actioned these) we need to complete these by the end of March. When talking to patients the main talking points were 1) patients not realising Saintbridge and Tuffley not part of Aspen. 2) Confusing signage in all the practices. AH proposed holding a walk through at all surgeries to ascertain where we can advise the practice on the patient’s point of view.

·   The Gloucestershire CCG meeting was held on 14th February 2020 at Churchdown Community Hall. This is a network event for Gloucestershire PPG’s. AH attended and found there was a wealth of information available. Catherine Holland has been singing the praises of Aspen PPG and what we have achieved and that has lead to PD and GG attending our meeting today. There was contact details for support services which we will collate into a folder for our noticeboard sessions. Phlebotomy services are changing and there was a talk about this. The next meeting is in April.

·   Practice Update-JS updated the group with news that Drs had returned from maternity leave with 2 new Doctors in the practice to. Four new Advanced Nurse Practitioners recruited as well. We also have three regular locums. Recruitment is always an ongoing process. The CQC visit on 14th February was positive the practice was looking forward to a better result than last year. They were happy with the PPG, the frailty team and palliative care work that has been going on in the practice.

·   Any other business

GG thanked us for allowing them to come and be part of our meeting with lots of ideas to take back to Alney.

The Chairman thanked everybody for their input and holding a very constructive meeting with lots of comments and opinions.

IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PRACTICE IT HAS BEEN DECIDED THAT THE NEXT MEETING HAS BEEN SUSPENDED WITH ALL THE UNCERTAINTY OVER THE CORONAS VIRUS
