• The chairman AH welcomed everybody to the meeting.
• ST informed the Group that Steve Pearce has withdrawn from the PPG.
• AH asked if there were any issues from the last minutes if not then he asked for a proposer to adopt the minutes as a true record. ST proposed and GK seconded.
• AH updated the meeting on the Noticeboard competition which was judged on 1st October 2019. The criteria was eye-catching and informative. The results were announced at a Practice Staff meeting on 23rd October 2019. 1st place was awarded to The Saintbridge noticeboard entitled Eat Real Food, 2nd The Saintbridge noticeboard Cancer Support and 3rd place going to the Aspen noticeboard entitled Young people. Donna Griffin the nurse was awarded a £100 cheque to go to her favourite charity for her winning entry. Recommendation from PPG was that the noticeboard should also be presented at Aspen surgery. EB asked why the noticeboards weren’t in a more visual place as some were in corridors were people would not see them. JS said that this was being looked into
• AH reported to the meeting that he had started an Action List which included the items we have achieved as a PPG ie a) A regular PPG meeting b) Attending and helping out at Flu Clinics and c) Holding the 2019 Patient Survey. This information will help the Practice at the next CQC review which could be held anytime soon.
• The Flu Clinic at Aspen ran very smoothly thanks to the volunteers who attended namely Steve Talbot, Carol Peachey, Eve Butler and Andrew and Tricia Harding. The Tuffley Flu Clinic attended by Georgie Kemp and Eve Butler as volunteers also ran well. EB also distributed newsletters as well. Thanks to everybody who helped out.
• AH brought the Aims of the PPG adopted at the last meeting to everybody’s attention and pointed out that Aim number 1 had been achieved through regular meetings and it was now time to focus on another aim. Encouraging patients to take greater responsibility for their own and their family’s health would be a good one to tackle and suggested we had an ideas session to discuss this further.
• The following ideas were discussed 1) Information Board 2) subject to focus on 3) Encourage patients to register Online. JS said that the practice would purchase a portable noticeboard for us to use. The subject to focus on was met with many suggestions from the floor and in the end it was decided to focus on Diabetes and Eating Real Food as a subject including along with advice on coughs and colds being the winter season to make use of your pharmacist for advice instead of the doctors. Topics to rotate on a two month basis. Also encourage people to use website and also registering on the NHS App. If we are talking to patients then a confidentiality form would need to be signed AH to source, also PPG volunteer badges to be worn to show who we are.
• JS gave us a practice update which included the following:- CQC inspection not yet but could be in the next two months. We have a new Corporate Manager Deborah Matson-Beale who is settling in well. More nurses had been recruited also 2 HCA’s. One salaried Dr returning from maternity leave next year. Patient Navigators also increased. We also have a Fraility nurse Rachel Bucknell who visits patients at home.
• EB explained about the progress that herself and Dr. Wilson had made with the Carers group that they have started with good progress being made. A carers support session was planned to be held on 13th November at Aspen and a slot talking to Dom Cotter from Gloucestershire BBC radio to advertise the support group was being held.
• KGP introduced himself as a new member of the PPG and explained his role in the NHS as Digital Lead for Gloucestershire. He offered his professional services in setting up a blogspot to compliment the website promoting the PPG and services which was welcomed.

Any other business
EB asked how do you see a Dr for x-ray results or referrals JS ask for a call back at surgery.
ST Organise group availability for Patient survey in Feb
JD Two people have volunteered to talk to the group about various subjects. AH Noted but not at the moment.
