Andrew was born in Fleetwood. After completing his formal education in Newcastle upon Tyne, he worked in local industries there until 1988 when he moved to Gloucester to work for the CEGB at Barnwood.
The rest of his working life was spent in contract management (both development and
implementation) for the construction of power generation assets which ranged
from the retrofitting of Flue Gas Desulphurisation equipment to coal fired
power stations, to the building of onshore and offshore wind farms, and
hydro-electric power stations. He took early retirement in 2014 but went on to
work for the National Grid developing carbon capture and storage projects
although they were never built.
Andrew is married with one child and love's theatre, cinema, music and reading and have a life-long interest in railways. Since he retired, he has been a volunteer at Gloucester Foodbank originally providing support through the Npower Fuel Bank scheme and more recently helping to change the Foodbank from a walk-in model to delivery only (which seems set to be the norm for some time to come).
