Features of the NHS App
The NHS App enables people to:
- check their symptoms using the health A-Z on the NHS website
- find out what to do when they need help urgently using NHS 111 online
- register as an organ donor
- choose whether the NHS uses their data for research and planning
If their GP practice is connected to the app, they can register and verify their identity so they can:
- book and manage appointments at their GP practice
- order their repeat prescriptions
- view their GP medical record securely

IT Schools for Africa have
opened a digital skills learning centre, TECH Connect, in Cheltenham that
provides digital support and training for anyone in the community. The
aim of the project is to improve people’s skills and confidence using a
computer/device so they can manage their lives more effectively. They
provide one-to-one sessions free of
charge to support individuals on a wide range of topics (computer
basics/emails/using the internet/job search/using online services etc).
They are a member of Digital Unite’s
Digital Champion’s Networks and use their resources in the sessions.
Recognising that online health
services are becoming more important for patients, they are planning a specific
campaign to promote services to the local community so they can benefit from
online health services.
